Construction Work – East of Michael Sorrell’s Loading Dock
Starting April 7, 2014, construction will begin on Emile Street between 41st and 40th Streets. Michael Sorrell Center’s loading dock will remain accessible.
Grunwald Contractors will be digging up Emile Street and the sidewalks on both the north and south sides excavating for new pipe. The work will be fenced off and will affect vehicle traffic. For those of you that park in lots 4, 36, 39, 21, and 20, you will still be able to enter the parking lots either from 41st or 40th Streets (see map). This work should last (approximately) 3 months.
This work is part of the Lozier Center for Pharmacy Sciences & Education and Center for Drug Discovery construction project.
Please use caution and observe any temporary barricades and safety fences around the construction area. If you have any questions, please contact Mic Tierney at 402-559-5261. Since it is vital that everyone working in and around the area be informed, please mention it your colleagues.

Look for future notices as the project progresses.
On Friday, May 3, 2013 there was a water main break at the intersection of 40th and Emile/Jones Streets.
The 40th street intersection of Emile/Jones streets will be closed for approximately seven more days. Hopefully the road will open Tuesday, May 14. “We’re waiting on the City to pave over the excavation site with concrete, according to Don Dickmeyer, project manager.” The Student Life Center will be accessible during this time from 39th and Jones streets, and Parking Lot No. 21 will be accessible from 40th and Leavenworth streets. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact Don Dickmeyer at 559-7170.
Beginning Monday, April 22, 2013, some of the first steps in the construction of the New Comprehensive Cancer Project will have a visual appearance on campus. Site investigation of existing underground utilities will cause minor interruptions of vehicle and pedestrian traffic along Dewey Avenue and 45th Street (Durham Research Plaza). This work will cause one lane of those streets to be closed for a few weeks at a time (see poster below). All work should be completed before June 1, 2013, approximately.
Look for future notices concerning construction activities that will affect the campus as the construction work proceeds.
Please observe any temporary barricades and safety fences.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Don Dickmeyer at 402-981-7564. Since it is vital that everyone working in and around Dewey Avenue and 45th Street be advised of the street closing, please mention it to your colleagues. (click on poster)
