Online photo gallery training

Posted by on October 13th, 2011

We are super excited to bring you training on a new tool we’re using to make our brand photos available online.  This tool will replace the current online database.  Join us on Tuesday, October 18th from 10 – 11 AM, in Sorrell Center room 2018, as Alex Flagg presents our new web photo gallery.  Alex will be covering how to log in, gather up pictures, and even use the tool to edit images (like photoshop) before downloading!

This will be an excellent resource for both web developers and campus communicators going forward.  We’ve also been working hard to add to the collection of brand photos that we have, so you’ll find nearly 900 different royalty-free images for use in your UNMC projects!

Hope to see you there!

Picture Perfect

I just had to share a recent change we made to our reception area in public relations.  We took four of the professional photos shot last fall, converted them to black and white, and matted and framed them to hang as artwork.  They have really dressed up the space and added some “pizzazz!”

Can you guess what/where each of these photographs are?   Post a comment if you know…

Preferred Vendors

Posted by on February 17th, 2010

In case you didn’t see it, a UNMC Today story is posted today announcing preferred vendors for UNMC departments and units to use for graphic design and photography.  The vendors were selected after an RFP was sent out last fall, and proposals were scored by a campus-wide committee.  The vendors are:

Graphic Design

Bailey Lauerman
Clark Creative
Daake Design
David Day & Associates

Webster Design

Photography

Scott Dobry
Brandon McKenna

Philip Nealey

Several vendors were selected for each category to offer flexibility and choices for departments and units, and I have personally met with each one.  They are extremely excited to work with UNMC and are eager to carry the brand in all of the work that they do for us.

The advantages to having preferred vendors are numerous – from each having a full understanding of the brand, to offering special pricing and rates that will ultimately mean money saved.  They’ve also met with representatives from Printing Services, and understand the in-house capabilities we have for design and printing.

Their work and portfolios are impressive, and they will be a wonderful partner as we continue to produce great materials that communicate UNMC’s vital work for its communities that it serves.

Training for campus communicators

Posted by on February 1st, 2010

You asked, we answered! At the last campus communicators meeting, we surveyed you on topics you would like to hear more about. The results are in, and now we’re bringing you the first training opportunity of many.
Come learn the basics of photography and web graphics and formatting! In this training course, participants will hear from a local professional photographer about the fundamental skills of photo composition.
Then, stick around to hear from associate director of web communications, Alex Flagg. Alex will be sharing “web graphics and formatting” guidelines, so that you can know how to properly get those photos on the web.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 10
Time: 10:00 AM – 11:20 AM
Where: MSC 2018

RSVP to Jill Carson. Please indicate if you are located at our Lincoln, Kearney, Norfolk or Scottsbluff campuses so that distance technology can be set up ahead of time.

Online photo gallery is ready!!

I’m sure we have kept all of you waiting long enough, so I am excited to announce that an online photo database is now available to the UNMC community.  This database contains hundreds of professional images, ranging from people to buildings.  These photos can be used royalty-free for UNMC commercial use.  As we hold more photo shoots and capture more dynamic photography, we will add it to the online database for everyone to use.   There are also additional photos from our last two photo shoots that we are still “indexing” for use and will try to have up as soon as possible!

In addition to that, an updated version of the brand book is also available, as well as InDesign templates for a postcard.

All of these things are available on the branding resources page.  Enjoy!
